Mary Tillery and her husband restored their historic 1793 federal triparte home in Tillery. This home is on the National Register of Historic Places. Co-owner and business manager of Tillery Designs, Charles Tillery provides custom designed line of sportswear for the Roanoke Valley and North Carolina and Virginia. Charles attended East Carolina University and has a Bachelor of Science in business with a concentration in marketing. He got his start in apparel with Coffman’s Menswear in Greenville, an exclusive, fine menswear store, and has been in the business over 30 years.

Tillery Marketing is a sportswear wholesale supplier for chain department stores and various independent retailers. He also produces corporate apparel for local businesses, high schools and family reunions. Charles creates logos for T-shirts or polos, jackets, or bags. He does custom designed t-shirts, caps, hand bags, and golf shirts in embroidery, screen printing, and transfers.

Charles is an avid cyclist, and his love of the outdoors is reflected in the quality, comfortable sportswear on which your business can be featured.

In 1995, Charles led a group of fellow citizens in the Tillery Community in establishing Tillery Fire Department. He was the incorporator and served as the president and CEO for 4 years. He purchased the land and served as general contractor in building the fire station as well as purchasing trucks and equipment and also received certification for the Fire Department from the state of North Carolina.

The Tillerys both share a passion for restoration. They live in their family home built in 1793 and restored the home to its former glory. The home is on the National Register of Historic Places, so the Tillerys have recreated a period-specific Jeffersonian style home that is a remarkable original Federal style triparte floor plan.

Charles’ grandparents lived in the home, and it was the couple’s dream to refurbish and reside there. It’s no wonder the couple found the perfect space on historic Roanoke Avenue for their new business. They were able to bring years of experience in classic restoration to their location.
